SOC help!

I try to make a .SOC file by renaming a blank .txt file, but it stays a .txt file!
Here's the file's name:
SOC1.SOC.txt
It doesn't show .txt on the end before I edit it, and after it shows .SOC on the end so I presume it's called that at the mo!

Uhuh, this is a little tricky to do. There's some setting I can never remember where it is to allow you to rename it normally, but here's a better way:

1. Open notepad
2. Select save as
3. In the filetype, select all files.
4. Now save it as whatever.soc, this time it'll be a real soc file.

Make sure your using Notepad, not MSWord, not WordPad. Notepad.

Try enclosing the name in quotation markes ("")

Putting only SOC1 in quotation marks or the whole thing? Whole thing still saves it as SOC1.SOC.txt, and putting only SOC1 in quotation marks says the filename's invalid!

Download that, copy it. And work with the copy.
Everytime you need to make a new SOC just copy that. Just don't make any modifications to it.
See? Simple solutions to complicated problems. Well, actually it's a simple problem, you're probably just making some kind of obvious mistake.

To fix this problem:

Go to the menubar, click on Tools, then Folder Options.
Go to the View tab, uncheck the box that says "Hide extensions for known filetypes".

Right click and click Save As, as with all the download links I post.
And menubar, the thing File, Edit, View ect

You need to link it to the Source Code
.

Right click the link and click save as. Not something on the page the link links to, the link itself.

I'm talking about the menubar in the folder view.

Do my fix and you'll be able to rename file extensions forever without having to download any extras.

What do you do for the srb2 source code? I don't have it. :/
Does it mean stuff like music.dta? If so, I've got them!

Until then, 1.09.2's source code works fine for thing editing, with the exception of state editing that is, but that can be done manually with ease.
