True,
Note: This mod is far from finished. A vast majority of the animations are either nonexistent or are missing complete frames, and some of their abilities are extremely rough and not finished. Also, some of this footage was created in an older version of the mod, so some visual effects, sprites, or even the skincolor may be inconsistent.
Hibiki Kuruumiya crosses dimensions and lands in a location simply known as Greenflower Mountain. After witnessing a huge explosion on the face of the mountain, he sets off to find out just exactly what's going on in this strange new world!
Hibiki plays similarly to your average no-spin SRB2 character, but he's significantly more powerful in certain aspects. While he's relatively quick on-ground, you'll get the most amount of speed while you're in the air and taking advantage of your two abilities and many passive buffs!
Being the most powerful pyrokinetic in his own world (and possibly others), it's no surprise that Hibiki takes advantage of his flames in SRB2. By double jumping and holding, you can charge a blast of upward momentum that can be used up to three times before having to touch the ground. Additionally, charging slows Hibiki's fall, and equipping shields even change up the properties, from floating with the Force Shield, or creating a huge once-off explosion with the Armageddon Shield!
Fire has its limits, but blindly slashing at people absolutely doesn't! Cleave allows you to dash forward and destroy any Badnik or monitor in your path. You'll also be able to float and plow through spikes while slashing, though you won't be able to control your movement until you're finished. You have the option to cancel the move with Spin and regain control, but doing this leaves you extremely vulnerable.
Unlike Agidyne, this is an infinitely usable move! Thrust forward as many times as you please, as long as you have enough air to tread and the cooldown is refreshed.
Hibiki is currently one of the tallest addons in SRB2 history, standing at a pretty tall 5'11". Because of this, he's unable to fit through most gaps that even characters that can't spin normally can. However, by holding Custom1, you can crouch down and start to crawl forward, becoming half of your original height. You won't get through spin gaps, but along with Agidyne's floor-busting capability, you're able to fully beat the main-game in any available route (yes, that does include Deep Sea Act 2).
A small skill, but an effective one nonetheless. Hibiki is completely resistant to any and all fire-based damage, but not explosions. If it's on fire, you'll probably be able to walk right on it or through it. This makes stages like Red Volcano extremely easy, though you will still have to avoid most badniks along the way, so keep your guard up.
Hibiki can't use shields because of his Cleave ability overtaking the Spin button, but he does have passive buffs while shields are equipped. Here's a quick list:
Hold on hold on, I'm not telling you what I have in store for Hibiki's Super form just yet. It won't be anything too special, it will have buffs for everything, but I do want to try to include at least one unique move.
Hibiki has a custom skincolor called Ashes, a dark-grey type of color with red and purple accents. Additionally, Hibiki comes packed in with seven extra skincolors based on his friends, but we'll come back to that later.
Hibiki is going to have support for other addons! At the moment I've finished a few sprites for one of them, and the other is a huge work in progress, but they're definitely being created!
"Hibiki? What's going on?"
Nadiya got concerned over HIbiki's disappearance, and traced his whereabouts to Greenflower Zone, so she followed him in an attempt to bring him back!
Like Hibiki, she can crouch in spite of her tall stature, but she focuses on verticality...in the wrong direction
Nadiya's main weapon is a massive halberd (not pictured), and she uses it to smash down on both enemies and suspiciously cracked floors!
I wish I had more to show of Nadiya, but she's unfortunately even more unfinished than Hibiki is. I do plan on having them playable separate and together, with them being interchangeable at any time a la BuddyEx.
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on Hibiki and Nadiya in the (slightly unremarkable) state they're in currently, since I have poured a lot of work into these characters during the two months I've been developing them for so far.
Super Special Thanks to people who deserve it:
"Original Server; Do Not Steal" community: You guys really liked Hibiki and Nadiya when I made them for kart, and you all encouraged me to make this mod when I proposed the idea, so thanks for being so supportive!
Hibikringe and Biasediya real!!!!!!!!
Hexhog Development Team: I tossed Hibiki to you guys a while back, and you all seemed to really like it and gave some definitely needed criticism, so thanks!
Hibiki Kuruumiya is one of many of my original characters following a story that I have been writing for a theoretical game. Out of all of them, he's arguably the most prominent and even is the protagonist of one of the acts. He's an antisocial and generally pessimistic teenager who doesn't enjoy talking to people, but when his metaphorical fire is lit, it doesn't go out easily. He was a normal person until one day he stumbled across a rip in the universe, which allowed him to travel to a parallel universe where only people's true selves exist. After fusing with his own and gaining power from it, he and his friends try to close all the tears, stop the multiverse from collapsing and save any people who get trapped inside.
Nadiya Soga is Hibiki's best friend, whom he met in the parallel universe. She's a bright and optimistic young woman, who took a big liking to Hibiki and will stop at nothing to cheer him up. She lives with her sister and parents in the parallel universe, but she remains quite distant from them, and as a result is perfectly sane, unlike her parents. She becomes a protagonist in the second part of the plot, after an unfortunate event happens.

SKILL ANALYSED: Agidyne
Being the most powerful pyrokinetic in his own world (and possibly others), it's no surprise that Hibiki takes advantage of his flames in SRB2. By double jumping and holding, you can charge a blast of upward momentum that can be used up to three times before having to touch the ground. SKILL ANALYSED: Cleave
PASSIVE SKILL ANALYSED: 5'11"
Hibiki is currently one of the tallest addons in SRB2 history, standing at a pretty tall 5'11". Because of this, he's unable to fit through most gaps that even characters that can't spin normally can. However, by holding Custom1, you can crouch down and start to crawl forward, becoming half of your original height. You won't get through spin gaps, but along with Agidyne's floor-busting capability, you're able to fully beat the main-game in any available route (yes, that does include Deep Sea Act 2).
PASSIVE SKILL ANALYSED: Null Fire
A small skill, but an effective one nonetheless. Hibiki is completely resistant to any and all fire-based damage, but not explosions. If it's on fire, you'll probably be able to walk right on it or through it. This makes stages like Red Volcano extremely easy, though you will still have to avoid most badniks along the way, so keep your guard up.
PASSIVE SKILL ANALYSED: Shields
Hibiki can't use shields because of his Cleave ability overtaking the Spin button, but he does have passive buffs while shields are equipped. Here's a quick list:
- Elemental/Flame Shield: Buffs all of Hibiki's abilities. Agidyne goes extremely high, and Cleave goes extremely fast and far.
- Whirlwind/Lightning Shield: Your Agidyne Charge slowfall's vertical descent is greatly reduced.
- Force Shield: You stop descending while charging Agidyne, turning it into a full-on float ability.
- Armageddon Shield: One-off nuke Agidyne. Burst upward at an extremely high speed, at the cost of all of your horizontal momentum.
- Attraction Shield: Cleave loses all momentum gain, but in its place is a Homing Attack that automatically strings combos together.
- Bubble/Pity/Rosy Shield: TBA/Have no buffs.
ITEM ANALYSED: Chaos Emeralds
Hold on hold on, I'm not telling you what I have in store for Hibiki's Super form just yet. It won't be anything too special, it will have buffs for everything, but I do want to try to include at least one unique move.
APPEARANCE ANALYSED: Disguise in Color
Hibiki has a custom skincolor called Ashes, a dark-grey type of color with red and purple accents. Additionally, Hibiki comes packed in with seven extra skincolors based on his friends, but we'll come back to that later.
STATUS ANALYSED: Outside influence?
Hibiki is going to have support for other addons! At the moment I've finished a few sprites for one of them, and the other is a huge work in progress, but they're definitely being created!
