Should I 100% the entire base game before playing with mods?

I have beaten the game twice as Sonic and Tails, and Knuckles respectively. I have 50 emblems and only 1 secret NiGHTS stage. I want to play mods like pizza time spice runners, sugoi and such, but should i unlock every last thing and obtain every last emblem before that?

can you get emblems if an addon is downloaded but not active, how do you deactivate an addon, how do i know if my progress is being saved after deactivating it? (sorry im EXTREMELY new to all of this)

  1. You can actually get emblems while mods are active! I think the ability to do that was added in 2.2.12, if I recall correctly? When you load an addon, the game says you can't play Record Attack, but in my experience, you still can - plus, even if you couldn't, you can still get Record Attack emblems in the regular campaign, and it'll save just fine.
  2. Unfortunately, the only way to deactivate an addon is to close and reopen the game. The game won't load any mods on startup unless you tell it to in autoexec.cfg, but once you add one, it's there until you close SRB2. I think you could remove addons in 2.2.14, but it was too janky, so now in 2.2.15 you can't anymore. Hopefully, 2.3 gives us that ability back, this time with more stability.
  3. You can save your game at any time, as long as you haven't used cheats or devmode. If you really need to know if your game counts as being cheated and saving is off, it'll say so below the file select - if you don't see something about it down there, you're good to go.

Also, I've been playing SRB2 for about 3 years at this point, and I still haven't 100%'d the base game. As long as you beat the base game (good ending optional) and the first bonus stage, you won't be spoiled on anything or anything like that.
