Rei'sen the Moon Rabbit [Touhou]

So here's someone you may have seen me show off on Discord or on Twitter; レイセン, or "Rei'sen"! Not to be confused with Reisen Udongein Inaba. There's a story behind the name confusion, but don't sweat it. She's normally named just "Reisen", but we're going with the apostrophe between レイ and セン method for the name.

Anyways, her abilities are the ability to use Spirit Energy for her moves. Yin energy is used for her Bayonet shots, and Yang is used for her Gunloafers. Yin recharges automatically when you're not firing, and Yang insantly reloads when landing or stomping damagable objects.

Bayonet Shots pierce foes and can be fired at a much higher rate than Fang's popgun. You can also shoot them while running and jumping, and shot speed scales with your current movement speed. The shots will even go through walls and slide along slopes!

The Gunloafers are based on Downwell, and work like the Shotgun type does. Each shot takes two bars of Yang to use (HUD graphics loaned from [M A R I A] for now, will replace later), and all shots are reloaded upon landing on anything! You can jump up to 3 times, and each shots sprays bullets downward!

The Bayonet Charge will dive you forwards when you hold a direction, and you will do a combat roll when you land. The midair motion will allow you to plow through bustable walls and offer a few frames of intangibility to projectiles by grazing. The roll will also let you slip under short cracks.

Finally (Discord linked because MB threw a fit), Rei'sen's color makeup is very different from other characters, making her incompatable with the default skincolors. But this is because she can radically transform her own colors! As of writing she sports 33 custom tailored skincolors! Some are originals, but most are based on other characters. Don't feel bad if you can't recognise them all!

Most of the non-visual coding is done, its mostly the lack of attacking hitboxes on the Bayonet Charge (rolling can still break walls at least), and possibly letting the Gunloafers' shot break floors. Aside from that, it all visuals from here on out, but art takes a lot of time. I'll post updates here as I make more advances!

Sure, I got a coloring guide right here! I won't be considering "community colors" until post-release, and even then its a "maybe", but feel free to mess around with them if you like! I'm still working on stuff, so sit tight on updates.

Still making progress, however slowly. Jump up frames (no falling ones yet), and you now eject gunloafer shells when reloading, depending on how many shots you've made.

I jazzed up the VFX some more. A bit more touching up and these'll be finished. Also using some alt colors to show that VFX also change colors.

So, I admit its been too long, been on a super slump with spriting, so I decide to get back at it by coding other stuff instead. First off, with help from the Discord, I figured out how to mess with the Simple Menu, and I got an ingame menu for Rei'sen's colors! Now, you can select the color you like in Single Player! It'll save your last selection too. I may use this menu for other options too!

In addition, I updated Rei'sen's dive with a Graze mechanic! The moon means you're currently grazing, passing through things considered projectiles, even stuff like this! But melee attacks and level geometry will still hurt you, so don't go thinking you're invincible! The grazing period doesn't last your entire roll either, and it ends early if you're not diving or rolling.

I did most of the coding left for Rei'sen's functions, but there's still a little more to do. And of course... a lot of spriting needs to be done. Actually doing spritework has always been a slow process for me, but I'll try my best regardless.

i gotta say, putting a dodge-roll esque mechanic in a character from a bullet hell makes quite a lot of sense

I have a suggestion for Raisin Cookie:
When she Destroys Robot's give her Power, If You collect enough power Her "Shot type" Is upgraded.
And maybe her Yin and yang Bar's are upgraded too or something.

:worry: And maybe Give them the ability to get shot down by other Reisen's
And maybe Make it so when they die they respawn where they were a few Seconds ago.
Maybe give them Bomb's????
