Reflection Appendisc

Reflection Appendisc Disc 1

Triangularity submitted a new resource:

Reflection Pack - Triangularity's map collection.

Reflection Pack
A ""pack"" currently containing one map. There's plans for more!
The name doesn't mean anything in particular - I just thought it sounded neat.
Currently, maps are located in Lost and Found.

A quick overview of each track (as well as their level image) is included below:

3 laps - Lost and Found
This map features a lot of water! You'll be jumping over it, driving through it, and...

Triangularity updated Reflection Pack with a new update entry:

RC5 / The Day One ""Patch"" (what do you mean we skipped 4 version numbers?)

Reflection Pack - Release Candidate 5
The reason why such a big update is coming so soon is because I was working on this while waiting for it to be approved to the MB. Turns out, I got a lot done (enough to warrant a jump from RC1 -> RC5!)

What's in the update:
2 new maps
Staff ghosts
And a cup for the tracks to reside in!

Enjoy!

Played through a lot of these -- the layouts are enjoyable, and I had some particularly good times with Shattered Seas and Mountaintop Rally.

There is a consistent problem throughout all of the maps though in which the patches of rings are too thin and sparse which creates a significant ring drought throughout each course. You have them placed in rows that are just one ring wide:

ringracers0451.png

To help with catch-up and map flow, you probably want at least three rings wide of a line for each patch of rings. You have to remember that several players will be driving over these for each lap, so it's best to give them a decent amount to help maintain their pace. You can have single lines of rings around straightaways and it won't hurt too much, but when they're placed on turns there should be some decent room for each stat block to steer and collect them.

As an example, here's Northern District's ring placement:

Most base game maps have them placed in rows of three, four, or even five rings each when the player is driving towards a set.

Nice courses! I really enjoy the aesthetic of Shattered Seas.
Though, one thing I've noticed on that particular course while doing Grand Prix on it is some funky respawn behavior. If you miss the second jump, you respawn back to the starting line. The lap doesn't count so you're set really far behind.

Triangularity updated Reflection Pack with a new update entry:

Release Candidate 8

This is more of a hotfix of some pretty egregious issues, so it's a lighter update this time around.
As a result of these changes, existing staff ghosts have been invalidated, so they have been removed from the pack.

General
Removed staff ghosts and existing time attack records.

Hydrodynamic Reflection
Textured a part of the ramp to the waterfalls.
The jump has been made less brutal. Flying off-course respawns you faster than before and the wall on the left...

Plans for the Future, Disc 1 Variantless

Heya! I figured I'd check in because I have some things to say that are pretty important.

First off - school's started back up for me, so updates will be much less frequent than they used to be. I'll move towards adding more content less frequently, as opposed to the approach I had in development of "I've got something ready, so ship it".

Secondly - The time-of-day variants are definitely much better suited to Encore mode. (Thanks to everyone who pointed that out - I'm not entirely...
