Recording - GIF?

I may sound like a complete doorknob here, but does anyone know how to record a gif of your gameplay? Specifically where in the options?

The commands are startmovie and stopmovie.

You can press F9 to start the recording and then just press it again to stop.

Just a note though, gif recording only works in Software.
