Preparing a .wad for release

My first custom zone is now finished and ready for release.

Or, it will be, as soon as someone explains to me how to put the wad in the correct format. I notice all the levels I've downloaded have either s_ or scr_ before the level name and .wad. What do those mean, how to I change my wad into one, and how to I put all it's components into a zip folder and make them downloadable on the releases forum?

This should be my last question for a while, by the way. Once I've got one level all the way through to the release board, I'll know what I'm doing better. (Hopefully)

The naming conventions are explained hither: http://mb.srb2.org/announcement.php?f=68&a=3 . The s_ and scr_ and the like are exactly that: Just naming conventions, only involving the use of “Rename”.

As for how to put it in a zip folder:
- Go into folder where the files you want to include are (which is usually just a single .wad file, but may contain as many files as you need it to).
- In the File menu, go to New > Compressed (zipped) folder.
- Name the zip folder, preferably with the same or similar name to your wad file.
- Copy the files you want to put into the zip file, then double-click the zip file.
- Once inside the zip file, paste your files into it.

As for how to make it downloadable, you must first make a new thread in the Submissions forum section. You must attach your zip file to the thread. I have never used the attachment system for wads, but I think it should be pretty self-explanitory.

Ok, it's all done.

My level has been spirited away to the submissions forum. Hopefully, it will appear in releases soon.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for something to be moved from submissions to releases? Mine's been sitting in there for 5 hours or more.

I guess it's just until a judge has time to play it, right?
