Hey its me again, still working on my first level which is coming along decently.

I need help designing a water pit though. The wiki gives rather poor instructions on this, so could someone please write it out step by step here? Nothing special, just basic water in a hole.

Thanks.

The wiki gives rather poor instructions on this

Hey! I wrote that article! D:<

Don't worry...I'm not actually offended. But I am surprised, given that I tried to write it so that the instructions would be as clear as possible. I think the problem is just that level design terminology in general is very hard for beginners, but even the simplest pages require some of said terminology.

The water tutorial I used was the one within the Doom Builder tutorial under the level design part of the editing wiki. (Though technically, that has you make an acid death pit instead.) I followed the instructions to the letter -twice- and yet all I get is a hole with absolutely nothing in it and no effect whatsoever.

So Ezer, I'm going to try whatever it is you sent me. I believe I am supposed to be looking at your large post within that other discussion. I'll give it a try.

Fawfulfan, this is the first time I'm doing anything programming-like, so I'm probably going to ask more questions on stuff you believe you've explained already. Just giving you a heads' up.

EDIT: Oh, and Fawfulfan, I've been playing your tortured planet wad.
It's pretty clear you're the one to see about level design questions.
You would think those were more official levels, they're that good.

Alrighty, the water's working, and it was a lot easier than the way that wiki page describes it.

Now, look at my other most recent post, Ive got YET ANOTHER problem.

Oh, no, I didn't do that. I'm talking about the four articles which describe the different FOF Water Blocks.
See, that's a problem. We have three different articles dealing with Water: Water Design, one section of the DB Tutorial, and your Linedef Type pages. We should try to use one consistent tutorial throughout, so that we don't get these kinds of problems. Also, the one from the SRB2DB tutorial sucks, just like the rest of it.
