OLDC downloads

The Official Level Design Contest is a major event in this community and the contest packs provide a very interesting insight in the evolution of mapping for SRB2, not to mention a lot of great levels. Therefore, I think we can agree that all the contest packs should be available for download, both for documentation and for personal enjoyment. The problem is that this is not the case.

Starting with the first contest for 2.0 in November 2009, the contests packs were uploaded to srb2.org itself. The contest packs can be found on several private webspaces, mainly belonging to SRB2 staff members. Some of these downloads are now broken. This includes everything Rob and Torgo hosted, as well as everything Mystic hosted before July/August 2006.

I made this topic to propose that all pre-2.0 contest packs (starting with September 2003, when this board was opened) are uploaded to srb2.org so that they are available if some of the private webspaces should go down. If that is considered too much bandwidth usage (we're talking about approximately 200 MB in total), we can try to find other people that are willing to host the packs. I also made this topic to try and see if we can retrieve the contest packs that went missing.

That's where you all come into play, especially the oldbies around here. Below is a list of all contest packs before September/October 2009, with download links whenever they are available. I can provide a few packs that have no downloads, but some appear to have been lost entirely. If you have one of these packs, please post them in this topic.

Here's March/April 08's Multiplayer pack: http://www.sendspace.com/file/k7jlr1

EDIT: And here is *most* of March/April 08's SP pack (or rather, all of it except HyperKnux's Metal Mechanism Zone Act 1): http://www.sendspace.com/file/x7dz3khttp://www.sendspace.com/file/1ugegq

EDIT2: Here is all of September/October 07's SP pack: http://www.sendspace.com/file/3t7h8s

EDIT3: July/August 07's SP pack (except for Simsmagic's Dimensional Zone): http://www.sendspace.com/file/ladsvw

EDIT4: Oops, I added Poison Palace instead of Poison Prison to the zip of March/April 08's SP pack by mistake, so I've reuploaded that zip now. =S

Thanks a lot for those. Also, if possible, could you upload the ones where I said I can supply them too? Sepwich account always beats Sendspace.

I'd appreciate if you could download them and and host them elsewhere. Can't these be uploaded to the wiki? I really don't want to be responsible for keeping a bunch of links up.

I didn't mean permanently, just until we find a permanent host. And no, these can't be uploaded to the Wiki, at least not the ZIPs.

This should be every multiplayer pack from July/August 2006 to May/June 2009. I'm pretty sure I have more from earlier, but they're all probably on my old PC. I'll dig around a little more and see what I can find. I'm pretty sure I have all of the wads that made up the 1.09.4 SP contests, but they're not zipped (I was running low on disk space and needed to get rid of some data, so I deleted all the extra zips and zipped my whole 1.09.4 directory).

Why not? Is it rejecting zip files entirely?
Yes, ZIP files are not allowed. You could of course change the supported file types.

This should be every multiplayer pack from July/August 2006 to May/June 2009.
Well, the problem is that they're all packed in one ZIP file, so you can't download one contest, but you have to download all of them. I know it's a hassle, but would it be possible to upload all these files separately?

You don't need to worry about multiplayer, all of those are available somewhere.

That of course would be great. Again, try for everything before July/August 2006.

Unfortunately, the only two machines I have readily available with my are my old laptop and my new one. I didn't start using my old laptop much until I moved into college, which was in August 2006. For anything earlier than that, I'd need to go back home and get my old PC, which has all of my files from 1.04-1.09.3.

I will note that I plan on going home again in about 2 weeks, so if I still remember I'll hook my PC up and look through it.

EDIT: Separate zips for the files I presented earlier. Also, my Sept-Dec 06 wad had been edited for some reason, so I downloaded the one in the original post and switched it out. The full zip with every contest is also there, updated to include the old Sept-Dec 06 wad.

Huh, this is interesting. I thought all my stuff was on the srb2 server.

I don't think I still have any of my contest on my computer. I might have some of that stuff on one of my backups, but frankly, I don't really care enough to look into that.
