not staying hyper sonic

I know I posted a lot of topics and need help, but anyways when I get the black emerald, when I swap to a different level I'm not hyper sonic after collecting 50 rings. PS:I followed the wiki guide

Yes, but that's assuming you change the level by hand, shouldn't it stay if you complete the level normally? Or I'm just adding more confusion?

Sik is correct. Staying away from the "Map map##" will leave you with all your emeralds. However, you lose all your rings to the finishing score, so you'll have to collect 50+ rings again.

OK, but when you switch to a new map manually don't you lose all your rings anyways? Even more, when switching to any maps aren't you always given no rings unless you use "startrings"? I don't catch the last sentence.

Man, I'm giving even more confusion to this simple topic :P

Well duh. Level select gives you only 7 Emeralds. The Black Emerald has to be obtained from GFZ2.
