New to Making Own Script - Death Upon Collecting Rail

Hey, so I wanted to start to make a script that involves dying upon collecting the Rail Ring, which can be turned off and on at anytime. And I've haven't have experience in scripting. So I'm going to need your help. What is the 1st thing I have to do? (Aside opening notepad)

I recommend reading the wiki's information on Lua and examining other people's scripts to understand how they work. Once you know what pieces are available to you, you can figure out how to put them together to do what you want.
