Okay, from what I've heard, the old MD2 model topic's deletion was accidental, so I'm making a new one.
Anyway, I don't have any of the original model links so I will be hosting mirrors of models I did not make.

Yay! The MD2 topic is back! Are you planning to make one of those "All in one" zip files like in the old topic?
 
So does this mean that we can now play different models of other characters with at least 2 MD2s loaded at the same time?
 
Um, no. I'm supplying all three for those who perfer a character other than Sonic. Someone tried what you said, and, although I have no personal experience, I was told it came out bad. I think maybe the game crashed or something...
 
For the next release they should do what i said, by making the model appear depending on the sprite name used, that way loading sonic will only appear when playing sonic, tails only appear when playing as him etc
 
You know what you can do that's really funny? You can create a second copy of all these models and rename them to PLAY.md2. Then you can play as rings, monitors, robots, even starposts and signs!

That wouldn't work as they have different frames etc.
 
Well, name the png the same as the model, open it up in Misfit, and use the line selection tool to choose what you want to change, then go to
Groups->Edit Texture Coordinates...
 
That Tails model could do with some work, there are un-attached vertices lying around, and the way all the faces on the back of Tails' head converge on one vertex looks very strange, there are quite a few unnecesary polygons lying around as well.
 
Yeah, that's a problem, but to fix it all the animations would have to be destroyed because Misfit can't delete when animations are set. Doing it in Q2 Modeller, but it can only select verticies, so it selects the unattached vertecies along with thos attached.
EDIT: Okay, I've got out a lot of them, but not all.
EDIT2: I'm not gonna bother updating the first page with it unless all the extra vertecies are out. It dosn't really affect gameplay or speed, so...

Also his tails look a bit tooo flat to me.
