Need help with XWE

I'm using windows vista, and i can't do anything in XWE!
the first error that shows up when i try to open it is:
"Failed to create key.WAD"
i click ok and it opens, with another error:
"List index out of bounds (0)"
i click ok again, but when i try to open a wad, another error:
"List index out of bounds (3)"
i click ok and xwe freezes

is there aniway to make it work?
