My SRB2 Game Runs TERRIBLY

This has been happening for quite a bit now, and across the last few versions (the last I played was I think 2.2.12?) my game runs terribly, like it never breaks 15 FPS. And I know it's not a hardware issue cause when I tried the Web version it ran at 60+ FPS perfectly fine. I honestly got no idea what to do so any and all help would be appreciated because it's been a hot minute since I played SRB2 and I'm in the mood to play for the next couple weeks.

Try switching renderers by pressing F10.

Tried it, whenever I switch off OpenGL the game completely freezes until I switch back.
This is only an issue with being in fullscreen and switching to Software.
Pressing F11 twice to toggle windowed and fullscreen fixes the freezing issue and makes the game run as it should.

Yeah, when I opened it again the render was already set to Software, probably because I tabbed out when it was frozen before and then just closed it, but now it isn't frozen. Granted it seems like the FPS is somewhat limited to 35 but it keeps trying to jump up to 60-70, although I can deal with that. 35+ FPS is SOOOOO much better than <15 FPS. Thanks to you and the other guy for the help.

35 FPS was the original framerate cap for years and the game runs at 35 tics per second as well, so that’s more than fine.
Still strange how the game struggles so much when it runs natively, though.
