MRCE is NOT a level pack, an srb2 unbiased opinion.

troplucky

Certified bad modder.
Ive been silently checking MRCE here and there ever since ive heard of it being indev. I say as a concept its pretty good, just a regular community remake of a level pack who's old...wait wha-

Im gonna be direct with this, a level pack shouldnt change a game at its core. that stuff is neat, don't get me wrong (well except the momentum i hate the fact its no longer optional as of some nightly builds back).
To me when this type of content is added
the level pack instantly becomes just a mod. you don't see l4d2 level packs change the game at its core now do you?
Ive gotten in arguments for this before and ill stand by it. This is NOT fitting for a community update, this can be seen as a remake or a reimagined version...but not an update.
MR even if kind of lackluster was treating itself as just an extra campaign, MRCE treats itself like a new take on srb2 as a whole.
especially because you can play both back to back.

This is just my opinion and im willing to hear yall's

Yeah, it's a mod. It's been a mod since its inception. I guess people use "mod" and "level pack" interchangeably since people call everything a mod nowadays.
Level packs count more as addons rather than mods, thats kinda the point im making
mrce doesnt add onto the game it modifies the game

I do not see the problem here, since SRB2 modding now allows for things like custom UI elements and modified character behavior. Last I checked the staff does not require modders to preserve stock SRB2 2.2 graphics and behavior and are free to present their own take on where the game could go.

As of now, mods that do a lot more than simply present custom maps is why the multi-category section exists (because there are addons that also include custom characters and other things). That is not to mention the fact that if this is to present a case for purism in the realm of mapping then the horse already left the barn years ago (see SRB2 Persona and other projects).

The terms "addon" and "mod" are interchangeable. "mod" is just short for "modification". It could be as small as giving Tails infinite flight or as broad sweeping as a full game overhaul. The term doesn't really have anything to do with size/scope.

I think the point you are more trying to make is that the mod in question has reached such a large scope as to start being a fangame in and of itself, though personally I'd just classify it more under the "overhaul" modding category.

Im gonna answer some of yall opinion with my own opinion about them

Main problem i noted is that it treats itself as JUST a level pack, rest of the stuff you said i agree on it fully.

I appreciate we agree in some way, even if my explaining was poor you got the idea and i appreciate yours.
It’s basically to SRB2 what Megamix is to Mania, innit? Hardly see a problem with that
Only problem is the title it gives itself and how confronting people can be about it, its not a level pack, its more.

It is under heavy development and has not officially seen a release yet (currently in alpha builds inside the Work in Progress section). When the pack itself gets to where it has to go into Addons & More it will probably get a more accurate description, but for now I do not think it is of critical importance considering how it started.
