at the end of the game, Intead of level select, i get a message that the internal map "mapeb" is not found. help!! :?

MAPEB... isn't that the credits? I mean, I know it's not something I ever found in the IWAD, so it'd be odd for it to be considered a MAP, but considering how this game likes to disguise WAD files so that nobody can easily find them...

Yes, before 1.08, there were only 99 maps. Now there are 1000 something maps, so map 255 points to MAPEB instead of the credits. You're using an old wad with the new exe, my friend...

It IS a WAD. An IWAD, to be all DOOMy and nerdy and technical and stuff. It's just renamed to throw some people off. Or because it can be.

No, no, I mean there used to be only maps 01 through 99, so 255 was the credits. Now it goes from 01 to ZZ, so 255 = EB, which is why map EB was not found. The header of that level that you are playing is pointing to map 255 to try and go to the credits because it's outdated and from the time when map 255 was the credits. I hope you understand that.
