"Remaster" is what everyone at Sonic Retro calls it, so that's why I called it that. If you're unaware, Taxman/Stealth have given Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 the same treatment they did for Sonic CD.
That is news, unless you're talking about mobile ports (in which case I'll pass, lol).
Collecting the chaos were a nasty chore, so I still haven't unlocked the true ending. I'm just happy they didn't make Amy the incentive to get all the Emeralds that time. It's a real shame, because I enjoy the special stages in Sonic Advance 3. Getting to them is such a massive pain in the butt.
Emeralds were botched in all three games, but SA2 is by far the worst offender for the stupid ring collection thing. I don't like the fact that Super Sonic isn't a reward, because it reduces the incentive to even bother. I don't mind collecting chao because I think it was kind of a cool side thing, but the special stages themselves should have been more accessible. I agree that SA3's were pretty cool.
A pretty sensible observation. It's exactly why I'm not too comfortable playing Sonic games on a portable in public, because the last thing I need is to be painted as some pessimistic, awkward, one-dimensional Sonic worshiper that looks at Amy Rule 34, much to the concern of his parents for not at least looking up real porn, and still lives with said parents because he lost job by defacing a Sonic Boom poster and macing a customer. "BLUE ARMS, BLUE ARMS, BLUUUUUUUUUUE ARMS."
I mean, it's shallow to broadly judge somebody based on a stereotype, although stereotypes are created by people perpetuating them in the first place. So there is truth to them, whether or not somebody realizes, "Hmm, maybe this particular British person might punch me instead if I ask him if he's a Doctor Who fan.".
Like I said, pockets of decency in the fanbase exist, but most of those are just gamers like SomeCallMeJohnny who grew up with the franchise and long since accepted that it's gone down the shitter. I don't identify as a Sonic fan because frankly I'm no more a fan of it than I am of Mario or Mega Man or Smash Bros, and calling myself a Sonic fan would be needlessly narrowing the scope. The only reason why I even know so much about Sonic in the first place is because I've frequented the SRB2 community for nearly a decade where everybody talks about it, and the series is ripe with game design errors which I enjoy dissecting. The only Sonic games that I sincerely enjoy are 2, CD, and 3&K (and Sonic R, but that's strictly nostalgia), anything else is just me analyzing their fascinating gameplay quirks.
