Making Race maps out of Match/CTF ones? Uh...

Should I continue?

(Right Click ---> Save as) (Only Map 90 is completed-ish)
There's a backstory to this...

It's something I started making after I went into SB's netgame one day (he was hosting a wad made by Espio (fixed by himself), which turned match maps (even 1.08 ones) into race maps), but there were so many glitches (graphical, etc.) that I offered to fix most of them.

As I went into Wad Author, I saw unclosed sectors, overlapped sectors, and a bunch of other random errors that I've never even seen before, so I just gave up. I pretty much lost internet service randomly at that time (I was moving to another house), and I was unable to converse with SB about it. While I had no internet, I was bored out of my mind, so I started making this.

I had created a fan made mode (such as diver) requiring race to execute, but I never actually made any maps for it. This map only uses part of what I had thought up, but I figured it was an alright map to release.

Should I continue with it? I mean, it was just something I made when I was bored. If everyone likes it enough, I might go on.

By the way, each "loop" uses different colors; because I didn't finish drawing the arrows properly on the map, here's the color order (since the maximum number of race posts is 16, I used 16 different colors):

Oh and, sorry, this is REALLY sloppily written. I'm a bit disoriented from moving.

Edit: Oops. I forgot; I added those textures to the one I was going to use for my mod. It's quite a lot of textures, but meh, I took the time.

Download! <-- CTH Texture Pack (about 400 textures, 12.8 MB)
(The mod isn't even close to alpha, by the way; it's running slowly, yet smoothly! Here's a screenshot just for the hell of it (PLEASE NOTE, THIS SCREENSHOT IS NOT A SHOT OF THE WAD LINK ABOVE):

(it's a bit outdated by the way).

WHOANELLY! I thought it was gonna be simpler than this...like prancing around a match level looking for the correct order the starposts go in!
Well....I'm bored, so I'll give it whirl...wait...I'm on my wii...damn.
Mabe tomorow.

Well, SRB2 FFH sucks at uploading files greater than 10 MB, so I'm uploading somewhere else. I guess I should post a screenshot or something.

Edit: Screenshot posted.

Uh, why is it greater than 10 MB? It's only got a few textures and some maps. What'd you do, copy all of SRB2.srb? O_o

Anyways, it seems like a pretty interesting idea.

@ Shuffle

Actually, the textures are pretty much the largest part of this. No, I didn't copy SRB2.srb... all I did was use simple PNAMES and TEXTURE2 patches. Although, it's not only wall textures (it's 400 floor textures too, so... 800).

So far, I see pretty positive input, so I'm going to finish up Sapphire Falls, and move on to Thunder Citadel. Hopefully I can do a good job of the entire thing, but let's see where it goes.

The textures must be BMP if the wad is full of only textures and a map, and snags 10mb of memory. Convert to PNG.

I DECIDED TO WORK ON SOMETHING ELSE BUT I WILL FINISH THIS... SOMETIME IN THE FUTURE.

I really shouldn't be procrastinating on a map by making other maps. Hopefully I'll be able to put this into high gear, but for now...

PROJECT SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY

I never saw that racing concept before on SRB2. Pretty nice for a random idea. xP
Anyways, make something that guides the way, I don't know, a line on the floor, arrows, numbers over the checkpoints...

He isn't really making anything, he is just editing.

I played this, and I think that the order of the gates is a tad confusing.

Otherwise, it is a not half-bad idea. You just need to get permission from the level's creators to edit and release them.
