To specifically answer your question, you need a lump editor. The two commonly used ones are XWE and SLumpEd.

XWE and SLumpEd both have quirks. Try them both and see which one catches your interest more.

I recommend getting both, but using XWE most of the time. Only use SlumpEd if XWE is really temperamental about one of your WADs.
