Yes. Unevenly so, in fact. Doom Legacy apparently had some code to scale up the framerate as needed, but this hasn't been supported during SRB2's development, so many things would go insanely fast if you tried to set it to, say, 70 FPS instead. This is valid as of 1.04; I haven't bothered experimenting in 1.08 or 1.09, as I assumed nothing had changed.would allowing the game to run at higher than 35 FPS also result in extraordinarily faster gameplay instead of just smoother animation?
If OpenGL appears to run faster then software, it is because your CPU can't run software at full speed, for whatever reason. Some computers have great CPUs which run software rendering mode just fine, even in big maps like GFZ2 but have sucky graphics cards that can't handle OpenGL mode well; Others are the complete opposite.
