Mostly because lua characters are considered gameplay-modifying addons and can block progression on gamemodes such as time attack. But I will change how characters are packed for the next update.

AFAIK Lua characters can play Time Trials.

Okay, I thought it worked the same as SRB2Kart so that you can't cheese records with overpowered characters. As I said, I will make some pack changes for the next update, with the possibility to have all characters in a single pk3.

Jaituia updated Jaituia's Factory with a new update entry:

v5.0 Update

- Added one new character : Demon Core. Faster than regular characters, but instadeath when bumping anything (it's definitely a joke character).
- I've made some changes on how characters are packed. Now there are 4 different packs depending on which characters you want to download :
> The Normal Pack contains only standard characters.
> The Special Pack contains only lua characters.
> The Complete Pack contains all characters.
> The Individuals zip contains each character separately.

I was curious about this character pack, because I saw the Demon Core trailer and I thought it was extremely funny to see joke characters in Ring Racers, so I wanted to give it (and the rest of the Lua characters) a try.

The artstyle of the characters in general is really cute and I dig it.

Demon Core is funny, it's a proper joke character indeed. I actually didn't know that it also came with a 33% boost in boost power though, so before I realised, I was getting SPBs thrown at me in Master difficulty as soon as I got a lead. The ability to die at any time also bugs out Sealed Stars - you will not respawn, but the game will not restart either. Finally, using the Garden Top can still subject you to dying by bumping, despite common sense dictating that you're not being bumped yourself, which is a little silly.

Lysander is neat, having a character whose stats change in times other than crossing the finish line is a cool concept. Although, more often than not, it seemed to change to very similar stats than it does change to wildly different ones, so more often than not the gimmick can be inperceptible, but still neat.

Akuii is another neat concept - 20 rings practically has you move sideways while drifting, but it's possible to still have control over your weight by spending rings or by simply turning. It feels like playing a class C, relying mostly on turning but also abusing the sideways drifting and amazing drift spark rate to get a lot of speed. It can be frustrating sometimes though, because elements such as ring boxes and trick panel rewards can keep you at 20 rings for a long time, and it's a killer in some levels, but it's nothing unmanageable.

Hope you keep cooking, chief.
