Detecated servers are like ciggarets.....

You think everyone smokes, but it turns out hardly anyone does....

Am i the only one out theres whos utterly clueless on how to use the command line and initiate a detecated server?

The host can only control whats go on. The host can not play the game. You still what to make a Deticaded Server?

They also do them when they're going to leave the server up for a long time, and can't play for the whole time. For example, Cueball can't play his server 24/7. :/

Permnanent servers and dedicated servers aren't quite the same thing, although they're very useful together. A permanent server is one that's been added to the masterserver manually (i.e. by Logan), rather than by the game. A dedicated server is one started with the -dedicated switch.
