Is it possible to change the way you select menu items (like instead of using the up-down keys, use the joystick or W and S to select 1 player, multiplayer ect.) without reprogramming/recompiling the exe?

i did, but there's only options to change the controls of the game, im not sure i saw options to change the way you select menu items.

That is pretty annoying.

I hit (the pc joypad equivalent of) circle for yes and x for no.
Also I have to use my d pad (which sucks) instead of being able to use an analogue stick.

Do you mean the interface? Or do you man the actual buttons that switch menu options? If you mean the buttons that switch menu options, I don't see why they need to be changed.

If you mean the interface, yeah, I hate it too. I honestly think it would be better if the options were seperate from the title screen, and givven more of a graphical interface. Not just yellow-white text. I know that's how Sonic 2 did it, but it only had 3 options, really.
