Is there a way to replace the Amy Cameo Sprites?

Like the title says, I been trying to replace the Amy Rose Cameo with my own but it's not working, I'm I doing something incorrect?

I tried it with a quick a WAD file and it works for me, all I did was copy Amy sprites into the WAD (with the sprite markers), edited them, loaded them in the game and they work as it should. Maybe try putting the sprites into the sprites folder. And I'm not sure what folder you put them in. But I guess it's just bad placement of files in the PK3 is the issue.
