(Unless youre the host and you want to host an older version for some reason)
An announcement will be posted on the website containing a link to the update download. Simply download the installer or patch, place it in your SRB2 folder, and then run it. Technically, you don't need to update to use multiplayer, but you can only play with people on the same version as you. This means that you'll have to update to 2.2.11 to play on any 2.2.11 servers, which will be almost all of them.
Your save data and mods will be left intact provided you don't delete those files.
Yes. At least with the smaller updates. In the 2.2 update they weren't, but from 2.2.1-2.2.10 (or whatever the current build is) I didn't have any issues, neither with mods, nor with savedata.
