Implementing "Underwater Forever"

So as I was modifying my Duon wad, I wanted the character to breathe underwater, so he would be invincible to drowning. However, trying to implement it wasn't very easy. I looked it up on the wiki, and I did as much as I could correctly, but I just couldn't implement it. Is there any way this character wad specifically can be implemented to breathe underwater?
 
If you're trying to use "underwatertics" to make your character immune to drowning, don't. It will affect every character, no exceptions.

(For that matter, if anyone still thinks disablespeedadjust can be made to work only with certain characters, that's a myth too.)


Right now the only way I can think of putting in some sort of underwater immunity, without breaking every other playable character, is to possibly tie some custom object to either the thokitem or spinitem to reset the underwater timer to 0 using A_CustomPower. Or perhaps spawning an elemental shield or something. Not really many options in the end though.
