I'll go first. Sonic Colors is my favorite 3D Sonic game due to it being the first I've ever completed, and the reason I'm in the series to this day. Sonic Colors Ultimate was a bit of a disappointment, though, so I want to improve on it.
Changes specific to levels:
- The Wisp capsules in Tropical Resort Acts 1 & 2, Sweet Mountain Act 1, and Aquarium Park Act 4 are applied to all stages except Game Land.
- Two or three wisps per stage over one or two or none at all. (Will list specifics later)
- Two wisps are present in the Sweet Mountain, Starlight Carnival, Aquarium Park, and Asteroid Coaster bosses.
- Tropical Resort and Starlight Carnival have their acts rearranged to make more sense and to be consistent with the others.
- More specifically, TR Act 3 and Act 4 have swapped places, and SC Act 4 and 5 swap places, too. SC Act 6 is given Act 3's music on top of that.
- Rival Rush is still intact, except the acts chosen for racing Metal Sonic are all different.
- Asteroid Coaster Act 4 was remade from scratch because of it's poor reputation.
- An entirely new zone called Flaming Factory has been added, because the additions aren't detailed enough. Like Planet Wisp, it's still under construction, with elements from Lava Reef thrown in.
- It's the only world that doesn't have a copy-pasted boss like Planet Wisp, Aquarium Park, and Asteroid Coaster, but instead, a new boss with fire-based attacks.
- It's also the world with the least amount of Wisps throughout it's 6 acts, with only five.
- The level's visuals resemble Lava Mountain from Sonic Lost World, even utilizing a remixed version of the Zone 3 theme with three variations to match the other six zones.
Changes specific to the Wisps:
- The Red and Violet Wisps from the DS version of Sonic Colors are added to the game, allowing the usage of the Red Burst and Violet Void Color Powers.
- The Red Wisps are unlocked in Flaming Factory Act 1, while the Violet Wisps are unlocked in Asteroid Coaster Act 2.
- The Red Burst plays in 2D and 3D, with it's music from SLW, while the Violet Void plays only in 2D, with a brand new music track instead of distorted level themes.
- The Jade Wisp from TSR is still included, with it's gameplay still intact. However, it is featured more often, even on the title screen and final boss like the others.
- The Red and Violet Wisps received the same treatment.
- Super Sonic can now use the wisps like in Sonic Lost World. However, doing so will de-transform him.
- Like in the DS version of Sonic Colors, there are cutscenes showing Yacker introducing the color Wisps to Sonic and Tails.
Changes specific to the story:
- Instead of Sonic and Tails being the only two protagonists apart from the Wisps, most of Sonic's friends are featured here, too. They got to the park far earlier, though.
- Cream the Rabbit and Cheese the Chao are encountered in Tropical Resort, being scared by Orbot and Cubot.
- Silver the Hedgehog and Blaze the Cat are encountered in Sweet Mountain, freeing more Wisps.
- Knuckles the Echidna and Rouge the Bat are encountered in Starlight Carnival, with Rouge screwing over Knuckles like she always does.
- Team Chaotix are encountered in Planet Wisp following a lead on Eggman's universal domination.
- Amy Rose is encountered in Aquarium Park swooning over Sonic again.
- Shadow the Hedgehog is encountered in Asteroid Coaster, and was trying to get some Intel on Eggman's plan.
- The Nega Mother Wisp from the DS version of Sonic Colors is featured here, but Super Sonic has to be unlocked first.
Changes specific to bosses:
- All bosses (except for the final boss) now have a pinch phase when they are at half health.
- A bossbar HUD element has been added to keep track of this.
- To make up for the final boss not having a pinch phase, it is the only boss that Super Sonic can be used in.
- Like in Sonic Lost World 3DS, Sonic will de-transform for the Final Color Blaster attack.
- The Nega Wisp Armor fight has been remade entirely; you still run down an endless path, but instead of the same attacks being reused, the boss will try to use every single Color Power in the game against Sonic, using it's two tentacles. This is like the DS version's fight, only the attacks are much harder to avoid, even though it's a 3D strip instead of a 2.5D platform, and there are double the Wisps you have to free. The hands, each modeled to resemble the one in Colors DS, will then knock back into the Egg-Mobile, freeing a colored Wisp adjacent to the one Eggman used to attack.
Changes specific to gameplay:
- Sonic is now capable of performing the Spin Dash with or without Boost Energy and without the Pink Wisp.
- To use it, press and hold the crouch button, then press the boost button to rev up a Spin Dash. It will not release until you let go of crouch.
- It can only be performed from a standstill, and it behaves like Sonic Generations' spindash in terms of power.
- Sonic is also capable of performing the Light Dash, with Unleashed functionality and without the Green Wisp.
- It's executed the same way as in Unleashed, using the Y button, but it can only be used on specific trails of illuminated rings.
Specific Wisps in each level/zone:
Other changes:
- Sonic is no longer the only playable character, as Tails can also be played as.
- Swapping between characters is possible with the light dash button.
- The remixed music is still intact, with the music playing across all stages now.
- The original music, which has been remastered for modern consoles, can be selected to play across all stages instead.
- The lives system is disabled by default, but it can be re-enabled in the options menu.
- When disabled, the Tails Save mechanic is used in it's place, and you'll have infinite lives.
- The park tokens are still intact, too, but the extra life sound from Sonic Adventure is used for it instead of the vanilla extra life sound.
- Collecting 90 Red Rings will unlock Infinite Boost, a feature from Sonic Colors DS that is unlocked when all Red Rings are collected.
- Infinite Boost basically means you can Boost at any time, even without White Wisps in your gauge.
- This is replaced with the Super Sonic option when all Red Rings are collected.
- Game Land no longer serves a purpose to getting the Chaos Emeralds, as they have been removed from Game Land entirely.
- To compensate, all levels in Game Land are unlocked by default, and the Red and Jade Wisps are included in some levels, too.
- The Red Rings now unlock stuff in the newly added gallery, such as a sound test and some illustrations, like in Sonic Colors DS.
- Instead, the Special Stages from Sonic Colors DS have been ported, with new physics because of the different engine.
- Because of this, they are a little more difficult, which is fine because they were easy before. The fun isn't gone, though.
- To access them, you have to finish Act 1 or 2 of a zone with 100-200 rings in tow. Then, you are granted an option to try the Special Stage.
