honestly in my opinion I think if you want to play to old version's levels I think you should just download srb2 the past and old charterers mode why do you ask it's mainly comes to that old srb2 is not a very fun game to play compare to now it has problems opening the controls are different the camera sucks and other different things if you want to try the pure old versions that's completely fine but if you are just want to play the old levels without adjusting yourself to an older version I'm recommending srb2 the past

that is true... though,
as you said, some people may prefer to experience the content as it was originally meant to be played,
and, there's a goldmine of old mods and content that are only available in old versions. 2.1 was the longest running version of SRB2 to date and it features so many cool mod that are otherwise no longer playable.
also, some people may have played those old versions back in the day and may want to play them because of the nostalgia blast...
in the end, it's your choice! The Past is an amazing museum of SRB2, and is arguably the best way to experience old levels.

Well, believe it or not some people actually like older SRB2. Including me! Have you ever played Version 2.0? It has easily the best campaign of any of the versions. For the controls, just reconfigure them? Not that difficult? Also how does the camera suck? 2.0's camera literally orients vertically with your mouse meaning you can see more of the level, as well as being less likely to clip into ceilings. At least from what i've found that's the case. ALSO why did you make this thread? It feels like a response to a nonexistent post. Now you might be like "oh but the campaign is worse" so let me go over all of the better levels.
GFZ1: Has the cave, automatically better.
GFZ2: Better Music, kind of a better more nostalgic vibe in general.
THZ: besides thz2 which is about as good as 2.0 thz2 thz is nearly exactly the same lol
DSZ1: 2.0 has these even bigger rooms with much more places to explore, more setpieces etc.
DSZ2: Cool slide sections, lots of linedef executors and setpieces, more fun in general.
CEZ1: Takes place in a really cool looking forest with a massive dam and a huge river, and then the awesome castle at the end. It also has a ton of other cool gimmicks and areas.
CEZ2: Cannon field. Need I say more?
ACZ1: Cooler intro, Better gimmicks, sometimes even better looking. Also has a transition into RVZ.
ACZ2: what's that?
RVZ1: Equal.
ERZ1: Literally has been cut down since 2.0
ERZ2: Has been cut down even more drastically since 2.0, its quite literally a worse level no doubt.
Final Boss: 2.0: Massive intimidating robot that shoots cannon balls, goo, and missiles you can ride and control to crash into it. 2.2: cyberdemon with a few other attacks
=P

I would definitely recommend SRB2TP to people who got into SRB2 recently and/or have an issue with jank. The old versions of SRB2 only truly excel at nostalgia and being janky to control, by today's standards. The only old version of SRB2 I can really recommend is 2.1. Mostly because of how long it lasted allowing for a ton of great mods to show up. Most mods from before then are just worth looking at if you're curious, IMO.
Excuse me but what
There's an issue?
