I'm not surprised at all - I have a devkit from when I released years ago, which I had to pay for out of pocket. Sadly, I'm contractually not allowed to sell it, and to get rid of it I need to destroy it or send it back to Nintendo to be destroyed, otherwise they'll likely never work with me again. I made less in sales than I spent on the damn thing.
