I need to learn how to edit Tails to put my OC in and change the text to make it say "Jack"

I am always using my OC, Jack the Fox. His model is based off of Tails. He wears clothes. A black T-shirt and grayish-blue pants. Also has two tails like Tails, but Jack cannot fly with them. So he uses his amazing tech skills (Better than Tails') to use his shoes to fly. I need to edit Tails' texture, though, and don't know how. I don't even know which textures! And the text for choosing a character, that needs to be changed, too.

Character sprites are stored in player.dta, which can be viewed by opening SLADE. However, don't edit player.dta itself, because that will break your game! Instead, create a new WAD or PK3 file and copy the sprites over, then make the necessary edits.
