What, is asking for help the only thing I do on this forum anymore? So, I have this DVD from an event at school. With permisison from the people who put on the event, I want to post various segments of the video on YouTube. The problem is ripping the DVD; I can't find any good freeware software to convert the DVD or parts of it into a video file on my computer. Does anyone know of any FREEWARE programs that can help? Thanks.

Try using Windows Movie Maker.

It does a great job at breaking up videos. Plus it IS free, and on your computer by default

Yeah, but what I have is on a DVD, and WMM doesn't seem to want to capture from the disk drive - it wants either a camcorder or existing video files. My problem is extracting the video from the disk so that I then can use a program like WMM to get the individual sections from it.
Oh, and I've tried running it on a video player (I think intervideo) and capturing that with the HyperCam, but I guess that only works for flash and OpenGL?
