I actually remake most of the levels I download, but I never release them because I thought it was against the rules, if you remake a level and give credit to the creator for the original thing, can you release it on the forum, or do you have to pm the creator and ask for their permission?

You need to first ask permission from the original creator, then it would be good to link the original Wad in the topic of your recreation.
