I hate OpenGL coronas.

Keep in mind I'm just trying to slap together an OGL-only sun for some areas of NSZ2. If it's complicated, I'm probably not going to use it.

Albeit this is just a minor quirk, the light source used in Starlit Warehouse appears to spawn on the ceiling. And stick there unconditionally.

The main problem is that the corona fades away after a short distance. Again, wouldn't be a problem, except you're supposed to be able to see the thing at about 3,000 fracunits away, which should be a reasonable distance.

Any suggestions?
 
OpenGL coronas have an incredibly short range for absolutely no reason. Senky and I ran into the problem awhile back, but I don't think we ever really found a solution.
 
You can make them incredibly large, but then it'll look really bad up close. =P But yeah. You can't see coronas that far off.
 
I don't know about that. I've used some extremely bright openGL coronas, and they were visible through a raised sector, so it might work with a thok barrier, too.
