I downloaded a bunch of files for a server and now my laptop is slow.

So recently, I tried out srb2 multiplayer. The server I joined required me to download a bunch of mods so that I could join. Now my computer is slow and I don't know how to delete the files. Please help me.

If your on Mac go to finder and search srb2, you should see your srb2 file somewhere after your logs. Click on it and go to the downloads folder. They should be there. Delete them then go to trash can so you can delete them permanently (I recommend creating a file putting it all in then deleted the file so they all get deleted permanently in one spot)

if your NOT on Mac I can’t explain because I have no idea where they put the file on windows/Linux so sorry

play on windows. I ended up just deleting srb2, because it didn't seem like anyone was gonna reply, but the files are still there :/

If you didn't change directory to copy SRB2 during installation, downloaded addons should be in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\SRB2 v2.2/DOWNLOAD .

they're not in the addons folder though, they're in the downloads folder.

In the future, you can always search addons by file extension in Explorer by typing in search bar - ext:"pk3" or ext:"wad", if you can't find them.

The downloaded files shouldn't affect anything once you quit the game. The assets are only loaded into memory when the game is running, and while there may be Lua code that gets executed, it doesn't have the necessary access to do anything that would make your computer slow even after quitting the game.

There are four possibilities I can think of, though that doesn't mean it can't be something else I didn't think of:

1. Your computer is slow for a reason unrelated to SRB2, and downloading files from that server is just what you happened to be doing when the problem started.

2. You have a program on your computer that does something with every file on your hard drive (e.g. an anti-virus scanner) which is getting stuck on some file that was downloaded and causing slowdown. One possibility is a "PK3 bomb"—ZIP bombs are a thing (look it up), and while I've never heard of it happening with a PK3, they are technically ZIP files, so it's at least theoretically possible.

3. I don't know whether or not this is possible, but perhaps a buggy and/or malicious Lua script could cause SRB2 to hang after it closes the window but before it quits, so it appears to have quit but really it's stuck doing something that uses a lot of CPU cycles. In this case, terminating "srb2win.exe" in Task Manager will resolve the problem, as will rebooting the computer, so if you've already done either of those, this wouldn't be it.

4. This is probably the least likely scenario, but still possible. It could be that someone found a security vulnerability in SRB2 and has leveraged it to install malware on your computer. Again, probably not something you need to worry about, but it's always a possibility.

If your pc is weak he will most the time NOT like getting filled with a lot of files inside of it
