How to earn startlives and rings

How do you earn startlives and rings?Ive heard you have to defeat Very Hard 5 times to get it!!Is that really true?

Just beat the whole game, get the secrets menu, and it's in there.

You really shouldn't be using these outside of netgames.

Because you can always use these in netgames, but shouldn't need to in Single Player.

Its not in the secrets menu.Only the check list

You need to unlock the god menu. Look up RedXVI on the wiki for info on getting it.
