It's kind of like Sword art online, The don't get trapped in the game though. What happens is, a player finds a virus that has the ability to hurt other players in game. And that virus affects him and his group in a number of ways.

Hes saying that the characters are experiencing a game within the show, similar to the anime Sword Art Online.

Sword Art Online is an anime about a Virtual Reality MMO of the same name. Basically, the main character and about 10,000 other people (don't quote me on that) get trapped inside of it, they die in the game they die in real life, that kind of stuff.
I believe CloudyTheFox is suggesting that TOME has some similarities to SAO in that it is about a VRMMO, although the players don't get trapped within. Instead, the main character (and his group) finds a virus through which he/she/they/it can bring harm to other players.
