How does one check if someone is playing Grand Prix mode with Lua

Right now i'm working with someone to make a custom lua that makes it so when you're playing as a specific character in Grand Prix mode, all the bots are turned into said character and given random names and colors as different members of the species.

While the Name thing is currently not possible (as far as we know) until Bot Names are properly exposed to lua. We are currently trying to figure out how to check if the mode is Grand Prix.
