How do you extract the SRB2 music...

How do you extract the SRB2 music without using C++? Some of us don't have the $600 for C, you know.

Uhm.. I don't think ANYONE uses C++ to extract the music.. you use Lumpmod.

The music is all generated by synths, except for the title screen. It's the only "live performance."

Quality C and C++ compilers can be had at no cost, but that's beside the point, since they have nothing to do with extracting music. (Well, you could write a program to do it...)

Indeed, it still does. D_ETC is MIDI, O_ETC is Ogg Vorbis.

D_ETC is MIDI, O_ETC -Those mean NOTHING to me.

They're lump names. O_MAP01M is the Ogg Vorbis music in slot 1, D_MAP29M is the MIDI music in slot 29, D_TITLES is the MIDI music for the title screen, and so on.

Basically what they're telling you to do is to open music.dta (in the SRB2 folder) in a WAD editor, like maybe XWE. You'll see a bunch of lumps named O_something or D_something; the D's are the midis and the O's are the OGG's. You can rip them from there (if you're in XWE, just click on a lump, do Entry - Save As, and then save the lump as an OGG or MID file).

Then, once ya have OGG, use a music converter to change it to WAV or MP3. I prefer MP3.

Why? Ogg files are smaller and higher quality, and just about every decent player supports them these days.
