How do I use Super Sonic in splitscreen multiplayer?

Sorry if this is a noob question, but I couldn't find any info on it on the wiki or the site.

How do I use Super Sonic in split-screen co-op? I've already obtained all Emeralds in single player, if it matters.

Acquire all Chaos Emeralds, collect 50 rings as a Sonic as either player, and then jump and press Spin in the air without a shield.


Note that multiplayer games, whether online or splitscreen, don't save data, meaning that you have to re-acquire the Chaos Emeralds whenever you start a new co-op session. To alleviate this, you may be able to find and use a mod which instantly gives you all Chaos Emeralds, although I don't know of such a mod for v2.2.

Thanks for the answer. But wait, the Emeralds must be collected separately in split-screen, yet they can't be saved? Why the restriction? I can understand no allowing saving in online, but local? Sounds like a design flaw to me. I mean, they expect me to convince my friend to go through all special stages and the whole campaign in one go?
