How do I put a .gif in a post?

I don't know how to put .gifs or .pngs in a post.
There is a button labeled "Insert Image" but it wants a URL, can't I just upload it from my PC?

You can't just upload from your PC, no. You have to first upload to somewhere such as Imgur, and then grab the URL of the image from there.

Only certain subforums allow attachments, such as Editing and Releases, and that's with a very specific purpose in mind. For everywhere else on the MB, you're expected to host images externally rather than clog up the forum's servers with your dank memes.

What Llitechiel said isn't wrong, he actually explained what you gotta do in order to UPLOAD a .GIF or another image files. In the other hand you are just guessing where is the button located, which the Azuma the Fox already seems know.
