how 2 checkpoint on srb2k?

how do checkpoints work in srb2k?

What i mean by checkpoints, i mean an Invisible Object that Calculates the Player's Position and makes it so
Passing throught the Finish Line dosent End a Race Instantly.

i saw something talking about how the checkpoints work but it was kinda confusing :/
