His World - guitar restored

Today I did some mixing stuff, and came up with this:

Remember how in the original E3 trailer, it was instrumental and had an awesome Jun Senoue guitar track that we've come to expect? Yeah well, we all know the story, they replaced it, and the final version of His World ended up like crap. Well, with my M4D 3D1T1NG SK1LLZ, I have restored the original music track while keeping the vocals. Infinitely more listenable, in my opinion.

The Crush 40 version of the song (and for that matter the remix that Zebrahead did on the Several Wills Soundtrack) > any other version of His World to ever exist.

But that's not saying your efforts were in vain. It sounds quite nice, if... a little off-beat. Your editing skills are impressive, if nothing else. =P

Where, pray tell, did you obtain such a high quality version of the E3 trailer instrumental? And for that matter, how did you get ahold of His World's vocals without the music? If it was digitally removed, which program did you use to remove the music?

Thanks.

Here it is: http://www.soahcity.com/music/2006_sonic_the_hedgehog/ost/Disc 1/28 - Theme Of Sonic The Hedgehog ~2006 E3 Version~.mp3

I extracted the vocals from the "short version" of His World (http://www.soahcity.com/music/2006_sonic_the_hedgehog/vocalrips/hisworld-shortversion.zip), using a Winamp plugin called Center Cut (http://www.moitah.net/#dsp_centercut). I then played around with the settings a bit, and recorded what I heard on my other computer in Audacity (used an audio cable to connect from the computer running Winamp's audio out port to the computer running Audacity's line-in port), and then edited the audio right there in Audacity.

EDIT: For some strange reason, the original E3 version was a half-step higher (e.g. the distance between C and C#). Weird, eh?

I know that was a PM, but I figured it was relevant to the topic.

could you redo that without vocals?

See the "2006 E3 Version" link above.

Very good, very good.

Anyway (I say that a lot, don't I?), to prevent any more confusion, the only part Zebrahead had anything to do with His World was the vocals.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, can I have permission to use this in a WAD?

1) We pretty much all know this.
2) Permission granted.
