Help with running srb2

I cant seem to run sonic robo blast 2 on my computer whenever i try to play it the screen goes black and a little box comes up and says "out of range".
im a n00b so can someone help me fix it
PS:im running windows xp

Change the resolution the game runs at via config.cfg. Replace 640x400(480?) with 1024x768.

That can often happen with flat-panel monitors that don't like running at 640x400. Get the launcher from the main site and choose a different resolution: 640x480 is more likely to work. You may also want to use STRETCH ON in the console at this resolution.

thanks and yeah i do have a flat moniter but i didnt think that it would make a difference to anything im trying it now but i have to re-download the game cos i cleaned out my hard drive bout 2 weeks ago and got rid of it so ill edit in a sec to tell u if it works
