Good evening, so i'm new and i want help on creating a custom character

While i was playing this game and seeing everyone making such great characters, this inspired me on creating my own character but when i look on YouTube for tutorials i couldn't find any that are for nowdays and i still didn't understand correctly how SLADE works, i don't have the intention on asking anybody for help on creating my own mod but i wish to know how the creation of a Custom Character works so i can create it
