God/No Clip Mode

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but... what are the God and No Clip modes and how do I get to them?

They're cheats. God protects you from damage, like having invincibility stars. No Clip allows you to go through walls. I think you can get them by typing GOD or NOCLIP ingame. If not, they must've been removed.

They're console commands, not type-in commands.

GOD prevents you from taking damage to anything that isn't instant death. Unlike Invincibility, you walk through enemies instead of killing them.

NOCLIP allows you to walk through walls, including between segments of the stage. It is a very helpful cheat when testing levels that you're making. It also sets the gravity to double, so don't actually try to play that way.

Both cheats disable the unlockable rewards you get when you beat the game, so you can't use them to cheat for real, but they are good fun and very helpful in testing.

What do you mean by "console commands"?

In the controls setup, there's a key for the console. Default is `. Bring it down, type stuff. See http://www.lawrencegearheadz.org/~a441/console.html for what to type.

Frankly, I quite like toying around with Degreelessness Mode on... every now and then, that is. :)

I don't like No Clip that much, though... that HOM effect is just creepy as heck.

I beat the game many, many times, and I got all the cheats, but that "cheat" menu with the "DESTROY ALL ROBOTS" and the player speed modifier doesn't come up...

The latter one's still "turbo [int]", I think.

I dunno about the former, though. "Kill monsters"? Prolly not, but, eh...

The player speed is "playerspeed." Destroy all robots doesn't have an entry in the console. Those options are for testing, and can't be unlocked.

Are for testing? I unlocked them somehow, though! :?

Yeah, it's some kind of bug that they can be unlocked. I don't know how, though.

They're meant to be unlockable "later on", actually, but the industrious can discover how to access them now. This is intentional. Basically in playing the regular game you never set a bit in gamedata.dat that tells those things to appear.
