God mode and saving progress

Hi friends,

SRB2 is a fun game and I know many players frown upon playing it with cheats but mine is a unique situation. Just a little over one month ago I was involved in an accident that bruised my spinal cord.
Because of my accident I cannot work and I am currently undergoing physical therapy. Shortly after my surgery, I could not even operate the television remote in my hospital room. Now I have improved enough that I can use my Nintendo switch pro controller. I have SRB2 on my switch and since I don't have my full dexterity back yet (by the way, using my controller seems to be helping) I am trying to find a way to make the game easier while I recover.
I found out there are console codes I can use but if I use God mode it will not allow me to save my progress. I am not going to play online or competitively against others. I just want to play single player and work on regaining more motor control in my fingers. it's ok if I am not allowed achievements.

Just saw this in the add ons area of the forums. Would admin tools plus accomplish what I am looking for?

If you are fine with not having a completely vanilla experience, then the game in its newer versions allow for the use of addons such as custom characters while preserving the ability to save.

There are a lot of powerful characters (including variants of the main cast) that would make the game far easier to beat. I believe 2.2.16 also includes a lower threshold for the emblems you need to find before accessing level select for all characters as well (which would then eliminate the need to play them all in order).
