Game doesn't save sometimes?

For some reason sometimes if I get through a zone and quit it doesn't save and I am back at the beginning of zone when I log back in. Why is this?

The game only saves at the first act of each zone, so if you quit during the second or third act and reload, you will start back at act 1.

The game saves when you complete a zone(all three acts, not just one) and loading a save file puts you at the first act of the current zone, just like in Sonic 3.

Search the wiki before asking questions in the future.

No I mean I do get through all the acts of a zone but it still doesn't save

Are you playing with wads loaded? The game doesn't save your progress when modified, unless one of them came with a gamedata of its own or something.

You get past the first act of the zone. You move on to the second act of the zone. You need quit for some reason. You open up Srb2. You are back in the first act. Just like everyone else said.

Did you close the game during the results screen on Greenflower Act 3 or even make it to Techno Hill Act 1?
