"Game data is from another version of SRB2."

I'm using SRB2 v2.2.13 as stated in the image within this post.
I tend to play SRB2, but, today, suddenly, this very message popped up when I tried to open it.

It's not the first time I see this window, but now, I'm afraid to lose all my data (excluding save files) again. How can it be fixed?

Do you have multiple versions of SRB2 in the same folder?

Sorry, but it unfortunately cannot be fixed. This happens when your gamedata is corrupted.

Is it possible to make your own backup save though?
You can make a backup just by copying and pasting the file somewhere else.
And how can it get corrupted? All I did to get it was to just play SRB2 like normal until that window popped up when I tried to open the game.
It just happens sometimes, sorry. Unless you've got a .bak version of that file, you're out of luck.

What's a .bak?

Welp, there it is, Doom Legacy engine limitations I guess?

How can I make one?
Can I use it even if my gamedata.dat is corrupted?
(Feel like I asked a lot...)
You don’t, sometimes the game does. If you want to make a different kind of backup, just copy and paste your gamedata.dat file somewhere else.

There is nothing you can do to salvage your current gamedata file though. Delete it.
