Which is your favorite level WAD editor? I prefer WadAuthor, mainly because it doesn't use much RAM, it's Win16/32 and the interface isn't clogged with who knows what.
Really, I like wadauthor because it's sector based and therefore works perfectly for SRB2. It sucks, however, for anything else, especially larger maps in Doom. However, as has been pointed out, this is about SRB2, so I pick WA.
The best kind of "wad editor" is a combination of authoring programs!
See, I use Wadauthor for drawing up the sector architecture of the map, DoomBuilder to optimize and align the textures of a map, Wintex to handle miscellaneous lumps, XWE to assist in handling miscellaneous lumps, as well as to assemble multiple maps into one wadfile, and Deepsea to assist in texture alignment and handling miscellaneous lumps.
I just found out while I went camping that Wadauthor can align textures, but it only works for linedefs that are directly next to each other :/.
I'd say I use Wadauthor for wadding, Doom builder for aligning, making cuved linedefs, and.. yeah, that's it.
XWE for adding textures and flats.
Lumpmod for adding other misc lumps such as music or map headers.
WA for big levels where I can afford to have a glitch or two;
DB for smaller levels that require texture aligning (Oh, and the 3D mode);
DeeP for inserting graphics and sounds/music;
And XWE to tidy it all up.
