Confirmed Fang's tail bounce is not immune to lava when it is rising

You can test this out in Red Volcano by taking the right path split at the start of the level.


This is probably also the case for rising spikes or other hurtfloor equivalents.
 
Chances are that the game tries to allow that, but it also tries to raise the floor, thus putting Fang inside of it for at least one tic. Therefore, Fang gets hurt while trying to bounce on rising/damaging floors. You can see that Fang hovers when the lava is sinking.
